The first few tomatoes cropped up while we were away. Of course, Jon had to drive home to check on everything, so he brought some back for us to try. Yum!!!

We hit the mother load!! Seaweed is jam packed with nutrients that help boost your soil and produce hearty plants. Jon makes tea every year outta the goodies we find at the beach. Now...how are we getting this to the truck???
Taking a much needed break from the farm and general life) stuffs!! Took Larry Potter (aka the Beast) out to the ocean. Today I will get to give it a spin! Woohoo!!
#NoDeliveriesThisWeek #EverybodyNeedsALittleTimeAway #SeeYaOnThe14th "Another week, another produce haul from Jon the Farmer - Urban Farmer Flowers, parsley, dill, snap peas, radishes, carrots, green onions, butter lettuce, salad mix, shiitake mushrooms, collard greens." Thank you, Anita L. Elder for the shout out and pic!!
#EachWeekGetsBetterAndBetter #PartnershipsHelp #MeadowMossFarm #SpringHillFarm #LaganaFoods The nice thing about having a teen son - he has friends. And when they aren't gaming, they're using those teamwork skills for various projects. This upcoming season, we are looking to create our own fish emulsion brew, so getting someone just the right size to fit in the tanks to get them cleaned out was needed. Hooray for teens, even if we can't get them to open their eyes for a photo (or 10)!!
#SoManyProjects #ExperimentingWithFoodGrowth #Teamwork #GetTheKidsInvolved Full share and Team A folks.... it's tote time! Pictured is this week's share - to note, every share has a few tweaks (for instance, our non #LaganaFoods folks will have mushrooms, instead). We are still finishing up some processing, so there may even be a bit more!!
#ThursdayDelivery #GoATeam #SeattleCSA #PierceCountyCSA Why it seems like just yesterday the teen found our first egg - and starting next week, we will have farm fresh eggs available to add-on to your CSA & FreshList share, thanks to #CleanFoodFarm (link here)!!
We will be sending out more info via email to our distribution list members in the coming days. Wanna get added in on the fun - shoot us an email at [email protected] or PM us! #GrowingDayByDay #CleanFoodIsGoodFood It's a real scorcher out there...here are a few tips for keeping your plants cool (plus some thoughts for fall planting). Head into some shade and give it a quick read.
https://www.motherearthnews.com/.../keeping-crops-cool.../ Wild cucumbers. Hmmm....if you have these, too - check out this link to learn a bit more about them.
#GoodForTheTumTum #TeaSolves This butterfly in our greenhouse made me think of the transformation we see as the season goes on.
It's been tough, in so many ways, for so many small food growers - ourselves and partners included. It's been cold and rainy for much longer than we've experienced and it has certainly made many of us feel like we are not being our best selves. This work can be isolating and make you second guess yourself as costs continue to climb and people forget the value of knowing where their food comes from. But now the sun comes out, the veggies start to burst with abundance and each week reminds us why we do what we do. So we look to this lovely creature as a sign that we are doing what we intend to do - grow food for the community - because we all deserve access to fresh food. And this is but another transition to something beautiful and bigger than any one of us. #ThanksForListeningToMyTEDTalk #GrowingFoodIsNotForTheFaintOfHeart #GratefulForYourSupport |
