Thank you to Marieke, a member of a really cool FB group - Seattle Zero Waste for sharing this great way to use up all those herbs you get in your deliveries. Go check their page out for great ideas around all kinds of ways you can avoid creating unneeded waste. #WasteNotWantNot #FlavorBombsForTheWin #SeattleZeroWaste Marieke Van de VeireSeattle Zero Waste July 24 · #Nofoodwaste #Lesspackagingwaste Sick of throwing away wilted herbs? Good news: You don't have to! Chop them up small, freeze them in trays of olive oil, then use them as "flavour bombs" in sauces, curries and stews. This little bamboo trellis is one of my favorites to observe growing and thriving. Jon has created several of them with varying combinations of plants. This one contains sunflower, squash, romaine, cucumber, bush beans, borage, corn, wheat (transplanted from our son's school project from 2020) and clover. A little experiment that's working out!
#UrbanGardener #SeattleIsReadyForChange One of my favorite things to do on a Sunday morning is walk the yard, visit the bunnies & chickens and have a sip of coffee. Just take it all in.
#GardensGiveLife #INeedANewCamera #IfOnlyYouCouldSeeWhatISee Quick shout out to our partner growers, #MeadowMossFarms for this great addition to this week's share. Carrots, Hakurei turnips and Cherry Bell radish. You also got to enjoy some of their salad mix and parsley. We are so appreciative for their contributions this year!!
#SharingIsCaring #MeadowMossFarms #SupportYoungGrowers One of the 13 (yah, I said it...thirteen!) items in the CSA share deliveries today, is zucchini and everyone is always looking for something to make (other than delicious bread, that is). Combined with the Walla Walla sweet onion you'll receive.... Gotta give this one a try!
