First up: good old Sungolds!! These tend to be a real crowd pleasure for folks of all ages - but especially for the kids! Sweet and tangy, bite sized snackers. You can't go wrong growing these!
Mortgage Lifter: a large beefsteak option, with a mildly sweet flavor. Great on burgers (both meat & meatless) or a great sandwich compliment. If you're really into it - you can look into the history of this tomato - it's got a great story! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortgage_Lifter Martian Giant: this tomato lives up to it's name - it's HUGE. This Giant is known for it's favored texture and wonderful has an unobtrusive flavor profile. Add some salt, pepper and EVOO and you've got an easy dish. Long keeper: this medium to large, beefsteak-like tomato is a fantastic tomato for storage. We found ourselves enjoying their mild flavor into the winter months (long after other tomatoes have ended their cycle in our region). We cannot recommend this tomato more, to allow for eating local. Cherokee Purple: known for it's intense and complex flavor - this heirloom tomato has rich flavors and is a favorite to add to salads. Green Zebra: this is Jon's favorite tomato! A tangy, medium sized slicer - it is good to bite into all on it's own. You can also fry it up with EVOO and garlic -yum!! Red Torch: striped, oblong - this tomato has a high, early yield. Is a little bigger than the Sungold, but definitely snackable. A slightly less tangy taste, so easy on the palate. Highly regarded as a great snacking option. Brandywine: a large pink-red tomato with a "real tomatoey flavor" This heirloom variety is great on sandwiches - a perfect size and ratio to bread. Juliet: a sweet red grape tomatoe. It's often referred to as the "mini-Roma" - this is a great option for making tasty sauce. Not acidic, but certainly a juicy one! San Marzano: this heirloom tomato has been deemed the "taste of Italy" A wonderful base to any sauce - this plum tomato has a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. Chef's Choice: this sweet, citrusy tomato is large and in charge. It's a luscious beefsteak option that is meaty and can be biten right into. Yum! BUT....these may be yellow or orange - only time will tell. Black Krim: a medium sized, heirloom beefsteak, it is sweet and salty, with a smoky flavor. This tomato is extremely versatile - great for slicing, taking a bite, making salsas and more!
