I think our camera man needs to work on his focus
In the meantime, we got some real-time experience with delays with getting trucks unloaded at shipping yards. Our green house arrived in Tacoma on the 22nd and was released to us yesterday!! Those folks are working their tails off - let's not forget how important they are in the scheme of how the world functions. Now, let's see if I can get that YouTube content edited and posted - ha!! #WeNeedEveryoneToMakeItWork #MaybeIWillFigureOutTheYouTubeFootage #MaybeIWont

Survey: who wants to participate in a seed share this year? We will be focusing on plants that will attract pollinators. Last year we had great participation so .... who's in?!? Seeds will be ordered soon, so we will have a strong idea of cost (dependent on the number or participants - we hope about $15-20 per person) and distribution will happen March-ish. PM or shoot an email to [email protected] and we will reach out to you. Here is an example of what was in last year's order: Herbs- Basil(Italian Large Leaf), (Parsley; Curled Leaf Forest Green), Cilantro (Slo-Bolting)
Tomatoes- Black Krim, Brandywine Blend, San Marzano (Sauce) Brassicas- Kale(Lacinato), Broccoli(Waltham 29), Cabbage(Pak Choi) Roots- Radish(French Breakfast), Carrot(Scarlet Nantes), Beet(Cylindra) Cucurbits- Cucumber (Marketmore 76, Armenian) Squash- Straightneck (Early Prolific Yellow) Zuccini (Dark Green) Allium- Onion (Evergreen Bunching Onion; Nebula) Legume- Bean (Blue Lake Bush 274) Sunflower (Maximillian) this year, we will have a pollinator mix with both edible and non-edible flowers, as well as traditional produce So, we are trying something out - a YouTube channel! It's rough, I won't lie. But...we hope to show everyone the process of bringing home the green house, building and raising it, getting the seeds going, transplants, growing and harvesting - you know, all the stuffs!!
We ask that you subscribe and like our channel and pass it along to friends and family. And have faith that we will get it fine-tuned in time. Ha! Oh - and if you have tips and tricks - feel free to pass them along. Next step - finding a good, low/no cost editing software (any recs?)! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgDKSzxTxSw2UYHIF-ferLA We have arrived at 2022 and this year, Jon would like to pass along a few quotes a from people that have traveled different roads, but are human, all the same:
"As for anything I would've done differently in 2021, sure, I would've listened to my gut when it was telling me to slow down a bit. Enjoy those moments even more with your family and friends, because at the end of the day these joyful moments are the stuff that really matters in life. That's the truth. Good lesson to always listen to that voice in your gut." Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness; and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." Mark Twain And finally, "Live your yawp." Jon the Farmer as reference in Verse 52 from "Song of Myself" by Walt Whitman - Your Daily Poem So...may 2022 be filled with reminders of what this life is about: the appreciation of our inner wisdom, the acknowledgment of all that this great big world has to offer and how it shapes our viewpoints, and the importance of community and family while chasing our dreams. Happy New Year! As 2021 comes to a close, we hope you will enjoy this year in review.
Thank you to our CSA & FreshList members, partner growers, LandDonors, food crafters and financial supporters: #MeadowMossFarms Lagana Foods Rainy Day Bees #SpringHillFarm, Patrice, Bob&Pat, Betty, FamilyWorks and #Fairlife #Grateful #SeattleIsReadyForChange #PuyallupIsReadyForChange #FeedYourCommunity #GrowFoodNotLawns #2021IsOut Happy Solstice!! If you have wondered about what it is...well here is a great article from the #FarmersAlmanac
#SoThatsWhatsUp #FarmersAlmanacResources https://www.farmersalmanac.com/winter-solstice-first-day... Guess what?? The Fairlife grant we applied for in October....well, WE GOT THE GRANT!!! The 24x60 greenhouse is on its way, the permits are in, and the prep work is just about finished. About one-quarter of our back lot will soon have a beautiful greenhouse that will allow us to get growing earlier in the year, run a longer season, grow more food overall and serve more of the community!
We could not have gotten to this point without each one of our supporters. And having the #Fairlife grant to help contribute to some of the cost - the cherry on top! #FairlifeGrant #ThankGoodnessForGrants #Growth #Grateful |
