We had a great meet-up with one of our food growing partners, #MeadowMossFarm this weekend. And....a few silly moments, too!

A caveat - the acts of individuals adds up, too. So don't get discouraged - do your individual best while you're working towards having the community join in.
#FeedYourCommunity #ItTakesAVillage #SmallActsCreateBigChange The ladies are back to laying - between the cold and the transition, I think it was tough for them. But now they get to roam free all day and seem to be much, much happier.
#HappyChickensTastyEggs #FreeRoam #CuteKid We've heard the seeds have been arriving! But WAIT - don't start them yet (unless you have a greenhouse or some other warm space) and consult your seed packs!! Keep in mind freeze / frost dates for 2021 were early April.
#HasteMakesWaste #PassAlongYourKnownTips #LearnAboutTheBirdsAndTheBees Hello! Jon and I would like to take a moment to (re)introduce ourselves. We are true mom-and-pop small food growers based out of several yards in North Seattle, having recently expanded to our space in Puyallup, with partnerships with other small food growers based in Shelton and local pasta maker Lagana Foods.
For the past 4 years, we have grown food based on organic principles, served our community through food donations and provided folks, such as yourselves, with high quality produce, as members of our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). For those of you that have not been served by us, we welcome you to sign up for our FreshList email group. So, what does that mean? Well....it means you get first dibs on all of our goodies. For instance, the seed share we just wrapped up. You also get to have first go at signing up for a CSA weekly and bi-weekly delivery share, exclusive discounts on produce and products, heads up for starts sales, and more! Perhaps one of the coolest things is getting the chance to maintain (or work into your current) lifestyle eating habits with less commitment than a formal CSA share. How do you sign up? Shoot us an email at [email protected] or send a PM. You can also learn more about us at our website, YouTube channel and Instagram page (all links in comments). And for those of you already on board with this outside-of-the-box model - we would LOVE your referrals! Please, pass our information along - we rely on your word-of-mouth to help us GROW!! We hope to have the opportunity to feed you and yours!! Dawn & Jon Larson Hi all, Jon here!
Pictured is the grouping of Pollinator Friendly Seeds included in this year's Great American Seed-Up bundle - just mailed out, today! Each seed packet contains planting instructions - including when to plant them, how much sun & water is needed, as well as a helpful link to learn more about seed sharing. Each collection of adaptable, non-GMO heirloom seeds are suited for both growing and saving. While all of the vegetables are great for eating, I recommend letting the strongest, most robust plants flower and go to seed, ensuring the best seed genetic possible while attracting precious pollinators to your gardens. These same seeds can then be saved for the next season and shared with your neighbors and friends. Be brave and add a few seed pods to any salad (arugula, radish, mustard greens). Squash or zucchini flowers are wonderful stuffed, breaded and fried! Allowing carrots, parsley, dill and broccoli to flower will attract all kinds of amazing bugs to the Party. And, remember: there are no "bad" bugs in the garden. They all have a purpose, Mother Nature knows what she is doing, and we are all just along for the ride. Like Bob Ross used to say "there are no mistakes, just happy accidents". Slow down and observe the magic! For those few that have not yet responded with address and payment ($24) - now is the time to get that wrapped up. We appreciate your participation and hope we can create a true seed-sharing experience amongst one another for 2023. With gratitude, Jon the Farmer - Urban Farmer (206)612-6895 Jon the Farmer - Urban Farmer acknowledges that we live, work & grow our food on the unceded and traditional lands of the first people of Seattle and Puyallup, the Duwamish and S'Puyalupubsh People. We honor with respect the past and present of the land itself and its tribe. Well, this doesn't look precarious, at all... The things I walk out to after my day of online work!
#Yikes #WishUsLuck #SomeoneHelp! It is with sadness that we had to say goodbye to our Big Boy Brownie bunny today. His easy-going way, willingness to be picked up and snuggled and his calm energy was a wonderful thing for the kids. These last three years have been a joy.
Brownie - hope you get to see Sancho on the other side.... #PetsEnrichOurLives #BunniesAreGoodForGardens #PlantingATreeForHim Was super excited to come home to this next phase! And so glad the boy was part of raising the hoops!!
