Busy screening some compost to fill up our seed trays. The fewer barriers for the plants to sprout, the easier it is to achieve successful starts.
#GrowFoodNotLawns #UrbanFarmer #PrepTime In today's dad class...what are the benefits of Mycelium: it helps to close the energy cycle of the ecosystem by decomposing organic matter and recycling it into beneficial compounds for the soil food web. Enzymes secreted by the mycelium facilitate this cycle. The enzymes break down the substrate and the surrounding dead organic matter.

The kids were busy! In addition to keeping seeds for growing the coming year and baking them - we are also using the pumpkins for compost and feeding the ladies
After a week away, there was lots to harvest from the green house for a light salad: kale, arugula, chard and carrot, as well as hold over Long keeper tomato, and previously frozen raspberries and blueberries. Plus a little chocolate zucchini bread, a bit of scotch bonnet pepper (from the Caymans) and Matzah ball snowman soup with shallots and #MeadowMoss dried mushrooms. Kinda random, definitely delicious.
